WELCOME TO OUR HOLE IN THE WALL!

We're a crazy mix in this family, keeping busy and having fun! I made this blog as a way for our family and friends to keep up with us. But good luck with that cuz I'm not the best at keepin' y'all updated!

There's 5 in the family. There's Dad - he's a motorcycle buff, building his own business, making parts for bikes. Plus he works hard at a full time job too. AND being a full time dad and our chef! There's Mom (that's ME - since I do most of the blogging). I'm a nurse, I like to go on motorcycle rides to though I'm having to sell my bike (boo!) and can't ride like I used to. I LOVE to spend time with my kids and wish I could do more of it! I'm the family chauffeur most of the time and the organizer. I'm also the photographer. (not the best but I try)

The kids are: D - the oldest boy. He's a self proclaimed nerd, obsessed w/ D&D (dungeons and dragons for those "not in the know", one of the original role playing games - NOT a video game! Imagine that! lol!). He also loves video games and computer games. He hopes to design/make video games one day. Or write plays. He's a theater buff too. He's in 9th grade and does outstanding! He's got a great sense of humor too - which usually drives his nana nuts! haha! T is the middle child and other boy. He's in 7th grade. He currently plays football and is in the honor band playing trombone. He's in a magnet program at school and is doing very well in school. He's got a GREAT laugh and has this way of doing or saying things that just touch my soul or make me laugh so hard. He's terrific! The youngest is G - the only girl. She's in 3 grade (or nerd grade as D puts it). She's learning spanish and like T, does very well with it. She did swim team over the summer, and dances during the school year. She's also in choir this year and like to join in UIL and other school activities. She's very active and is always in and out of the house. She's a spiritual soul too and has been the driving force with getting me to church most of the time, or getting us to read scriptures or having FHE. She's my angel.

Stormy Weather, swimming, and 'the trip"

G had her last swim meet on the 21st and only swam in 2 races. Kind of bummed about that b/c the coach overlooked putting her in the butterfly or breast stroke for her age group, and didn't up her to the next age group for relay like he did last time. So no relays. Good news was her last race was the 14th so we were out of there before 10AM. No point and sticking around to watch races when she ain't swimmin' in them! ;) She did very well too. The morning prior I told her we'd go to family fun night at the Y but she had to swim her very best (no goofing off like she had done the night before) and she did SO well! And she did just as well at the meet. Knocked 11 secs off her freestyle and I think 2 secs off her back.

And it turns out she qualified for the state meet by both of those times! (the back was a *barely* qualify but still!) YAY! Not sure if we'll go to the state meet since it's several hours away and she'd have to swim on 2 different days for those races, but if she qualified for more, we'd definitely go! And this coming week - the coach set up time trials for the kids to try to qualify in areas they haven't yet. So she'll be trying in everything she can. From the 25m breast and fly; to teh 50s in all 4 areas; to the 100IM. Hopefully we'll get her qualified for something else. She also has another meet coming up on the 12th and that will give her the last chance to qualify for the state meet. The state meet is in Frisco (near Dallas) the last weekend of July.

Here's pics from the last meet.
All geared up and ready to go!

On the way to the meet that morning, we saw a really cool cloud w/ the sun behind it. G said it looked like an alligator ready to chomp! lol!

On the 21st we had a viscious storm come thru. A tornado came a few miles north of us. Here's some pics from that day that other people took (got these off the khou.com website).

Luckily we didn't get a tornado! Whew! But we did have some viscious lightening and very strong cross winds. It ended up bringing part of a tree down from our yard - and hit the roof. Luckily no damage. Again - whew! Here's pics of the limb that came down but it was taken after S had already cut up part of it. During the storm he and the boys had to run out and drag it off the roof. They were SOAKED! Anyway - here he is cutting up the tree (and sticking his tongue at me in the process - lol)

S left for Virginia (Fredericksburg) on Wednesday evening. Him and dad trailered the bikes up w/ a friend of ours and his wife. They made it last Thursday night and set up camp. It sounds like it's been a really good time. There was a ride planned for this AM and on the honda powersports window there was a big sign advertising the ride (and rally) and saying to come ride w/ pepsx (friend) and cybrhick (S)! How cool is that? They had flyers too. He was supposed to have gotten a pic of it and brought home a flyer. We'll see. Dad seems to be handling things okay too and really enjoying himself. I'm jealous b/c I'd love to be there! The friend was packed up this afternoon and has headed out to come back home. S and Dad will head home tomorrow morning. They are hoping to make 500 miles a day but the mountainous area can make for slower riding - so they might not make that the first day or 2. Potentially they could be back late Wednesday night but it could be as late at Thursday evening. Depends on weather and how far they get each day. they will be staying in hotels - Dad has had enough of camping! lol! Hopefully they make it home safely and quickly. We're missing them bunches!!!

State! Woohoo! I'm afraid I'm raising a family of dog-paddlers, so I'm really impressed.
