WELCOME TO OUR HOLE IN THE WALL!

We're a crazy mix in this family, keeping busy and having fun! I made this blog as a way for our family and friends to keep up with us. But good luck with that cuz I'm not the best at keepin' y'all updated!

There's 5 in the family. There's Dad - he's a motorcycle buff, building his own business, making parts for bikes. Plus he works hard at a full time job too. AND being a full time dad and our chef! There's Mom (that's ME - since I do most of the blogging). I'm a nurse, I like to go on motorcycle rides to though I'm having to sell my bike (boo!) and can't ride like I used to. I LOVE to spend time with my kids and wish I could do more of it! I'm the family chauffeur most of the time and the organizer. I'm also the photographer. (not the best but I try)

The kids are: D - the oldest boy. He's a self proclaimed nerd, obsessed w/ D&D (dungeons and dragons for those "not in the know", one of the original role playing games - NOT a video game! Imagine that! lol!). He also loves video games and computer games. He hopes to design/make video games one day. Or write plays. He's a theater buff too. He's in 9th grade and does outstanding! He's got a great sense of humor too - which usually drives his nana nuts! haha! T is the middle child and other boy. He's in 7th grade. He currently plays football and is in the honor band playing trombone. He's in a magnet program at school and is doing very well in school. He's got a GREAT laugh and has this way of doing or saying things that just touch my soul or make me laugh so hard. He's terrific! The youngest is G - the only girl. She's in 3 grade (or nerd grade as D puts it). She's learning spanish and like T, does very well with it. She did swim team over the summer, and dances during the school year. She's also in choir this year and like to join in UIL and other school activities. She's very active and is always in and out of the house. She's a spiritual soul too and has been the driving force with getting me to church most of the time, or getting us to read scriptures or having FHE. She's my angel.

Dance Recital

Sunday was "dory" (ie: "keep on swimming" - she's our swimmer girl this summer) dance recital. It was a year in the making and although it was a long 3 hours, loud, lots of bright lights and I left w/ a horrible migraine (I have GOT to learn to take tylenol with me when we go places! You'd think I know by now!), we really did have a great time! We had front row seats (well, 2nd row for the 1st half of the show, and then front row for the last half). There were 46 numbers. G was in number 41 with her class (actually 2 classes - 1 of younger girls and 1 of her age) where they danced to I Want Candy. And then she was in the closing number, 46. This was all the girls that wanted to participate.

the day started off really rocky too - well, not started. We had church, and she didn't start getting ready til 4PM. We had rehearsal the night before. She could NOT find her leotard! Holy Moly! We looked high and low - went up to the auditorium TWICE (Biker Dude did) and no luck. Many many tears were shed. Still - we got her ready anyway hoping and praying some mom found it the night before and would bring it to the recital! And that's what happened. YAY!!!!!!!

By the time her number came around - we were tired. I couldn't decide whether to video her routine or not. But ended up snapping photos. They aren't the best. We ordered a DVD - and that's why I went w/ the photos. Hopefully in a couple weeks, we'll have the number to upload to google vid or something and share. Lots of the numbers were great and some of the nubmers - not so great. You'd think after that long - the girls would know their routines but they looked like they just learned them! I was worried about Swimmer Girl's b/c it was a bunch of girls - and some young one's! (as young as 5) So placement could become a big issue, confusion and stuff. But man, she did fantastic. She had a smile on her face, looked like she ad a great time, looked like a pro up there. ANd never ONCE looked off stage to see what the teacher was doing (dancing for the littles in case they forgot - but even the littles did a great job!). It was a terrific routine all the way thru and I was very very proud of her! She was even proud of herself! She was just bouncing off the walls w/ excitement afterward!

Last was the closing number which only had a handful of practices (2 dedicated night practices - one of which we FORGOT!) and then 2 mass rehearsals which included the closing. So not a ton of time to learn it! She didn't have a huge part in it but still! It involved the younger girls which she was a part of (she was in a pink top), the girls a bit older than her (in light blue tops), then the oldest girls/teens (in purple tops), and the instructors (in dark blue tops). They each had their role to play. Again - she did a fantistico job. And I likey this costume SO much better!!!!!!!!! (she looked less like a candy corn w/ a muffin top if you ask me - that other was just a horrid choice)

Here's some photos!!!

After it was over, she blew me a BIG kiss but of course I missed it on film! lol! Oh well.
